Towards Fully Automated Multi-Slice and Patch-Clamp Experiments using Automated Perfusion Control

The X-Series Bug has finally been fixed!!! - To install this fix, go here

WinLTP is a stimulation, data acquisition and on-line analysis electrophysiology software program for studying Long-Term Potentiation (LTP) and similar synaptic phenomena.  WinLTP is multitasking and simultaneously runs two tasks: 1)  stimulus/acquisition sweeps, and 2) continuous acquisition saving Axon Binary Files (abf).    Central to the design of WinLTP is the Protocol Builder which can be used to generate complex induction stimulations.  In Version 2.00 we have installed Automated Perfusion Control, which when coupled with the Protocol Builder, enables running automated experiments after a stable baseline has been achieved.

WinLTP runs on Windows computers and uses National Instruments USB, PCI and PCIexpress M- and X-Series boards and Axon Instruments' Digidata 1320A and 1322A data acquisition boards.

Other software that can use National Instruments M-Series boards includes Axograph Scientific's AxoGraph X, John Dempster's Strathclyde Electrophysiology Suite (WinWCP and WinEDR), Silver lab's Nclamp, QUB data acquisition, John Ralston's NeuroRighter, and data acquisition programs written in MatLab (such as mPhys), WaveMetrics' IGOR and National Instruments' LabView.

WinLTP can be run in two different ways: the Basic version with substantial, but limited, functionality, and the Advanced version with full functionality (including Protocol Builder scripting, Automated Perfusion Control, Experimental Log, converting ADsweep files to Axon Binary Files, and full multitasking to save Continuous Acqusition data)  Running the Advanced Version of WinLTP Acquisition requires the purchase of a License Key.  The cost for the License Key is $1300 or £800 for up to 5 copies.  Running the Basic Version of WinLTP Acquisition continues to be free.  (Currently, there are no plans to charge for future versions of the WinLTP Basic Version. However future changes to this policy cannot be ruled out.)  The WinLTP Reanalysis program is free.

If you can afford it, we hope that you will support WinLTP by purchasing an Advanced Version License.  This helps us to provide technical support of Basic Version users throughout the world, and to continue further WinLTP development.

Commercial users are required to buy an Advanced Version license to use WinLTP in either the Basic or Advanced Modes.
